 We are RENTOKILL, a political punkrock band from Austria Europe. So far, we have released 3 MCDs by ourselves in the past and we have a full legth CD/LP called "back to convience" out on Vitaminepillen Records (DE), Engineer Records (UK/US) and In-N-Out Records (JAP). Furthermore we have two split records out, a 6-way-Split-CD on Enemy One Records (BRA) and a split 10" with REDLIGHTSFLASH out on Broken Heart and Rise Or Rust Records. formed as a quintet in 2004, Dutch punk rock foursome 50 Percent Off exploded
onto the Rotterdam underground scene with their debut 7-track EP “Affected by
Surroundings” - a surprisingly invigorating fast paced mix of punk and skate.
Backed up by 2005 follow up demo “Sip the Poison” – more mature and intense than
its predecessor - together with energetic live shows and a boundless enthusiasm,
they quickly laid claim to their territory in the ever turbulent punk scene of
Rotterdam and its vicinity.After a successful tour in Austria in 2005, Austrian based indie label Dead Poetic Records signed 50 Percent Off for one full-length release. Continuing writing songs, the band’s style evolved from ‘just’ punk rock to an increasingly aggressive, powerful blend of melodic hardcore and crossover metal, still with a firm punk heritage and with speed, energy and emotional discharge as very important ingredients. Shortly before finishing the recordings of the first full-length “Weapon of Choice”, DPR went bankrupt. This minor setback only stimulated 50 Percent Off in finding new inspiration and dedication, determined to release this – now finished - 12-track masterpiece into the world through a new label. Having played alongside bands like, amongst others, Rentokill (AT), I Against I (NL), Jan feat. UDSSR (AT), Let it Burn (USA) and the Bouncing Souls (USA), fueled by the urge to canalize their anger through a passionate, uncompromising, hard hitting musical outlet, the band is bold, daring, ambitious and full of energy: 50 Percent Off is gearing up for the future!
